Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum set for hamstring injury scan - source

Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum is likely to undergo a scan on his injured hamstring on Wednesday at the earliest, a source has told ESPN FC.

Wijnaldum came off injured midway through the second half in Netherlands' 1-0 defeat in a World Cup qualifier against France on Monday night.

The Dutch national team doctor was in contact with the medical staff at Liverpool after the game to provide them with an update on Wijnaldum's condition.

The 25-year-old will report to the club's training ground, Melwood, on Tuesday afternoon.

Wijnaldum has been ever-present for Liverpool this season, having started every game in the Premier League so far this campaign, but could miss the upcoming clash with Manchester United.

Meanwhile, fellow central-midfielder Adam Lallana is also a doubt for Monday night's encounter with Jose Mourinho's side.

Lallana did not join up with the England squad over the international break after he sustained a groin injury in the 2-1 victory at Swansea City.

A source told ESPN FC that it remains "touch and go" as to whether Lallana will feature at Anfield on Oct. 17.
