Liverpool matchwinner James Milner credits Jurgen Klopp for turnaround

James Milner has credited Jurgen Klopp's message to his players at the half-time break as the catalyst for the comeback win over Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

Milner secured Liverpool's fourth consecutive win in the Premier League when he netted from the penalty spot with six minutes remaining to give the visitors a 2-1 victory.

Leroy Fer had given the home side the lead early on as Liverpool initially struggled to settle into the contest at the Liberty Stadium. However, Klopp's side were much improved after the interval and equalised with a header from Roberto Firmino in the 54th minute before Milner coolly dispatched his fourth penalty of the season.

When asked by Sky Sports after the game whether the performance in the second half needed to be better, the 30-year-old replied: "Of course it did, I think we all knew that. Big credit to the manager and all the boys. He was angry but he kept most of it in and said what was needed to be said and got us going.

"I thought the second half was more like how we've been playing and getting about. First half we really weren't at the races and they're a good team.

"We gave ourselves all the work to do but it showed great character to come back from a goal behind away from home and get three points."

Liverpool moved up into second place in the Premier League table after the result in South Wales.

Captain Jordan Henderson is hoping the good run of form can carry on and believes the recent success has come from hard work on the training ground.

"I definitely think we've improved as time has gone on," Henderson said. "We've had a good preseason together, I think that was important.

"We've started to set the standard every week in the way we've been playing and we've just got to continue that. Hopefully we just keep on going, keep working hard, keep our feet on the ground and keep doing what we keep doing."
