Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool must show consistency in the Premier League

Jurgen Klopp says his Liverpool side have to ensure complacency is not allowed to creep in and that they maintain consistency after some good early form in the Premier League.

Liverpool have made an excellent start to the season which has seen the team earn plaudits for the playing style that has helped them win four games on the bounce in all competitions.

Liverpool will be looking to secure their fifth consecutive win when they travel to South Wales to face Swansea City on Saturday lunchtime and Klopp says he has made it perfectly clear to his players that nothing has been achieved yet and wants to keep the momentum they have going.

"We have an agreement," Klopp said. "I say: 'The only thing that is important for you is how I saw the game'. They like to hear about it when it is good, but I can still say this was okay, this was okay. It is only important how we see it.

"I am really happy that they are getting asked positive questions, but in the end we have to show that does not make us weak and not a percent in doubt.

"How can I be sure? We have to show it. We have to create this mood and attitude and stay like in a tunnel -- go, go, go."

Prior to taking over at Liverpool, Klopp guided his Borussia Dortmund side to two Bundesliga titles during his seven-year tenure.

Liverpool have already showed this season that they can compete with the sides at top of the table. However, with few players in the squad who have been in a position to fight for league titles before, Klopp insists he has to create a winning mentality at Anfield.

"Which of this team has been used to being at the top of the table?" Klopp asked. "I had a year break from fighting at the top of the table, but I am a little bit used to it.

"It is not that you know about it from when you're a kid, you have to learn it. We are learning it and hopefully we will do well.

"The whole club is not used to sustaining a positive mood. I am not in doubt about what can happen, but I know pretty well there has to be a kind of reset.

"You push the button and then you don't go back to the beginning, you go back to the last game and the level you started in the last game. Not the level you felt after the last game. That doesn't work.

"Be ready to invest everything in the game and don't wait for the easy moments. Just because you played 20 good passes in the last game doesn't mean you will do the same next time. You have to find the same attitude as before the first pass -- not the last one."

Klopp added: "We have a few challenges. We have shown our football skills and now we have to work on how we can show them every week. It is about consistency.

"At this moment we have to stay right on track and do what we have to do and try and force our opponent into making mistakes so they can't bring through their plan 100 percent and we can bring through ours 100 percent. That is how it works."
