Liverpool's Emre Can to miss Leicester clash due to ankle injury

LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Emre Can will miss Saturday's game against Leicester City due to injury.

Can, 22, sat out the 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur prior to the international break due to an issue with his ankle and then did not go on to feature for Germany in their 3-0 World Cup qualifying win against Norway.

Meanwhile, Ragnar Klavan, who also missed last month's game at White Hart Lane, is a doubt for this weekend's clash with the Premier League champions as a result of a knee injury.

The centre-back was given the all-clear to play for Estonia but went on to aggravate the problem while playing 90 minutes in a 5-0 defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday.

However, speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Klopp confirmed that forward Sadio Mane did not sustain an issue while on international duty with Senegal and will be ready for the meeting with Claudio Ranieri's side.

"Mane, I don't know how it works and who said it, but it was absolutely nothing," the Reds boss said. "He has trained since he was [back] here completely normally.

"Emre is different. In the Burton [Albion] game, he didn't even need an opponent, he did it by himself this little issue with the ankle.

"It is much better but Emre didn't have a perfect preseason and didn't have a few games and unfortunately another two-and-a-half-week break now. Maybe he will be back today or tomorrow in team training but it will not be enough for the Leicester game."

Klopp added: "Another player with problems is Ragnar Klavan. He had this really unlucky game. He had a bone bruise and a little rip, not too deep, around the knee.

"We don't need to stitch it but we have to wait. It is obviously a little bit painful so we have to see what happened overnight. We'll know more this afternoon.

"[Sheyi] Ojo has not been in team training until now. I don't know if there's anybody else that we could or should talk about.

"We have enough players available, if nothing happens today and tomorrow. We will have a good team. I hope everybody wants to play. Then we have to make a few decisions, we will make them and then we will start."
