Jurgen Klopp's half-time talk sparked Liverpool win over Arsenal - Lallana

Adam Lallana told reporters that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had demanded more energy from his side at half-time as they won a thrilling game at Arsenal 4-3.

Three second-half goals in the space of 14 minutes saw Klopp's side record a big win in the capital after a Philippe Coutinho free-kick had made it 1-1 just seconds before half-time.

Lallana put Liverpool into the lead just minutes after the restart ,with Coutinho and Sadio Mane adding further goals.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers then netted to set up a nervy finish, but Liverpool held on.

"I think maybe we showed them a little too much respect in the first half," Lallana told Sky Sports.

"He [Klopp] wanted us to get up to the ball more -- more pressure, more counter-pressing. He said to use how fit we are and how we can really push on in the second half.

"We came out the traps firing and got the second, third and fourth [goals]. We let them come back in it and it was a bit of a tense last 10 minutes. It was nice to hear the final whistle and get three points, and we can go home happy."

The midfielder added: "It was very entertaining. We started the game not so brightly after we thought we had quite a good preseason. But it's always difficult coming to Arsenal.

"On the stroke of half-time there was a little bit of magic which gave us a little bit of a lift. The manager had a few words for us at half-time and we came out brilliantly.

Football being football, maybe we got a bit complacent at 4-1 but we saw it out in the end."

The England international believes Liverpool have the strength in depth to achieve success this season, with the lack of European football turning out to be a positive.

"We've got huge belief," Lallana said. "You only have to look at our squad and we've got top players on the bench, top players back at Melwood that weren't fit enough to come with us. So we've got a great squad.

"We're not in Europe this year so we've got a lot of weeks where it's one game a week.

"We've got belief and confidence in ourselves. We will just take it one step at a time."
