Liverpool propose scheme for personal fan stones outside Anfield

Liverpool have announced that they have submitted a planning application for creating a specially designed walkway featuring fan tributes outside Anfield.

The Reds have proposed a scheme, confirmed in a club statement, that would allow supporters to purchase a personalised granite stone which would sit in the Main Stand's "new public realm."

The public realm has been designed to reconnect Anfield to the nearby Stanley Park and local community, with personalised fan messages helping to make up the walkway.

Alongside the granite stones, Liverpool are also hoping to install granite benches outside the Main Stand, which would incorporate artwork depicting key moments and players from the club's history.

Submitted as part of the feasibility studies, the application seeks consent to install the stones and benches in an area where supporters can "gather together and enjoy the special Anfield atmosphere before the game."

Liverpool are currently in the process of expanding Anfield, with the Main Stand's capacity being increased by 8,500.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also announced that Jurgen Klopp will return to former club Mainz this summer when his side face the Bundesliga outfit in a preseason friendly.
