Liverpool fined £8,400 by UEFA for fans' fireworks against Dortmund

Liverpool have been handed another fine by UEFA relating to the setting off of fireworks after a flare was thrown on to the pitch in their quarterfinal win over Borussia Dortmund.

Proceedings were opened after the dramatic second-leg victory over Dortmund, and they are also awaiting details of the punishment for offences in the first leg in Germany.

A statement on UEFA's website indicated that the Merseyside club had been fined €11,000 (£8,400) for the breach of its regulations.

Earlier this week, Liverpool were fined €40,000 (£30,565), with half being suspended for a probationary period of two years, for illicit chants during their round-of-16 tie against Manchester United.

They must also pay an additional €17,000 (£12,995) for the setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, crowd disturbances and a late kick-off in the game against United.

Last week disciplinary proceedings were opened against Liverpool for crowd disturbances and the setting off of fireworks, and Sevilla for crowd disturbances and the throwing of objects during the Europa League final.
