Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are "in a perfect moment to play a final" as they prepare to face Sevilla in the Europa League on Wednesday.
Klopp took charge of Liverpool in October and, despite mixed results and performances, there has been evidence of steady improvement and he could win his first trophy with the Reds in Basel.
They have already eliminated three of the top sides in the competition en route to the final, and Klopp believes the meeting with Sevilla, the 2014 and 2015 winners, comes an ideal time for his side.
He said: "We are here because we beat Dortmund? Right. We beat Man United? Right. And Villarreal? Right. In my opinion we are really in a perfect moment to play a final.
"That doesn't mean all is already done. No, it's far away from this. It's only about the preparation.
"This hard, intensive seven months feels like it should end in a final. Always working for each point, each goal and each opportunity in the game; good performances, bad performances.
"At the end you have a final. It's about being able to show all the things you have learned. I'm really happy.
"Usually the problem for all teams is that a final is the last game of the season so it has been a long time until then, but nobody feels the intensity of the Premier League season in this moment. We have the breath of fresh air."
Klopp once likened his Borussia Dortmund side's style of play to "heavy metal" but he resisted the idea that his Liverpool side have taken on that mantle.
"I have decided never ever to give a team a name of music! It follows me my whole life," he said. "Last week I got a present of a Metallica CD. I like them, to be honest. I'm not a music specialist to be honest but I'm quite an emotional guy.
"This team, maybe one time they will have their own name. That would be great. But [there are] a few more, smarter people who can do this. The best way would be if our fans would give this team a name, a positive name."
Klopp won two Bundesliga titles and a DFB Pokal with Dortmund, but he has not won a major trophy since 2012 despite reaching finals in each of the four seasons that have followed, losing out to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and DFB Pokal, Wolfsburg in the DFB Pokal and Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.
"What would winning this final mean to me? It would mean a nice party," Klopp said. "I'm quite good at celebrating things. It is long ago that I celebrated something really so I'm ready.
"Someone will write it that I didn't win too much. That is the truth but very often I was in a final against a team that's actually a little bit better. The performance was good though. We got there because we were over performing.
"Then in the final you have the best team against you and you think, 'Oh my God that is quite difficult,' but even then we played our best like the Champions League final and were really competitive.
"I'm not sure if I am a winner but I want to win. I've had to learn in my life to accept defeats, it doesn't feel too good.
"You could say it is better to go out in the semifinal so it doesn't hurt so much if you lose the final but being in the final is the opportunity. That is why we are here."
