Jurgen Klopp frustrated by Liverpool conceding late winner at Villarreal

Frustrated Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lamented the late lapse that saw his Liverpool side concede to Villarreal in stoppage time of the first leg of their Europa League semifinal.

Klopp's side had appeared certain to emerge from the game with a 0-0 draw until the 92nd minute, when Adrian Lopez turned home a pass across the area from Denis Suarez.

The goal came seconds after Liverpool's Alberto Moreno had fired over on a counter-attack, and Klopp told BT Sport: "Of course I'm not too happy with the goal we conceded in the last second.

"Counter-attacking in the 92nd minute does not make much sense, but it is only the first leg. It is 1-0 and they have to come to Anfield, where we know how strong we are.

"We had our moments tonight, and we defended really well. This race is not over.

"If we had had enough players in around the box [for the goal] it was no problem, but they played this one chipped ball over Kolo.

"I don't know where Alberto was in this moment, but that was the only big mistake we made in this game -- and they scored with it.

"Ninety minutes played, 95, we will play at Anfield and that is a different game then."

Toure said Liverpool's late comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals would inspire them to respond against Villarreal.

"It was a great ball put in. We can do better defending than that, but we look for positives now," he added. "There is another game, but we had chances to score.

"We showed against Dortmund we can respond. We know we can do it, we just need to believe. We need to learn from the mistakes and play the same game we did against Dortmund."

Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet, who moments before the goal had made a fine save to deny Cedric Bakambu, said the strike did not dampen Liverpool's hopes ahead of the return leg.

"I think we played a good game," he told BT Sport. "Everyone saw Villarreal's quality, but we had some chances to score. It didn't happen -- but we still have it all to play for.

"It was a very tactical game. They were tough to break down, but with the fans behind us it is there to play for at home."
