Liverpool's Danny Ings and Emre Can could play again this season

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says that Danny Ings and Emre Can have not yet been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Ings was signed from Burnley on a Bosman last summer -- the compensation fee for the move has yet to be set by a tribunal -- but suffered a cruciate knee injury in October that put him on the sidelines for at least six months.

Can was ruled out for up to six weeks with ruptured ankle ligaments suffered in Liverpool's dramatic Europa League win over Borussia Dortmund, Ordinarily that would end the Germany international's domestic season but Klopp is hopeful he will play again.

Liverpool have at least seven more fixtures to play -- eight if they get past Villarreal to reach the Europa League final -- starting with Saturday's home game against Newcastle United when Rafael Benitez returns to Anfield.

"Danny's in a really good way but he's not back in team training yet," Klopp said. "Maybe two weeks, I'm not too sure.

"It was four or five days ago when someone sent me the email saying it was two weeks until he could train with the team. I don't know if he will be able to play again this season, that depends on how he recovers. He's been out for a long time."

Can, however, seems more likely to feature again in this campaign.

"He's recovering much better," said Klopp. "There might be a new timescale but I'm not telling you because there is no proof yet! But he is very good."

There are also doubts over Divock Origi, who has found his form under Klopp after a slow start to his Liverpool career. But Klopp said on Friday that he would "try everything, everything, [to make sure] the season is not over without taking any risks for the player."
