Jordan Henderson could still play for England at Euro 2016 - Jurgen Klopp

Jordan Henderson could still be part of England's Euro 2016 squad despite suffering a knee injury at Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said.

Henderson, 25, damaged the lateral collateral ligament in his left knee during Thursday's 1-1 Europa League quarterfinal first leg draw, with reports saying he would be out for between six and eight weeks.

That would have given him little time to regain match fitness before the start of the tournament in June.

But Klopp suggested the picture could be more hopeful, refusing to rule Henderson out of his club's final games this season.

"It is serious, but it's not that serious that there's no hope for us for maybe the last one or two games," he told Liverpool's official website.

"And of course there is hope for the European Championship. We will do everything for him, for us, that he's back in the race as soon as possible."

England coach Roy Hodgson names his squad for the tournament, in which England take on Russia, Slovakia and Wales in the group stage, on May 12.
