Liverpool good in every area against Aston Villa - Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to a relentless Liverpool performance after their 6-0 demolition of the Premier League's bottom side Aston Villa.

Sunday's victory at Villa Park marked a spectacular return to form for Klopp's team. It was only their second league win of 2016 and the first time they had won a league match by more than a one-goal margin since the 4-1 win at Manchester City on Nov. 21.

Daniel Sturridge -- who started a league game for the first time since Oct. 4 -- headed a 16th-minute opener from a Philippe Coutinho cross before James Milner's free kick sailed straight in to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Emre Can's 20-yard drive made it 3-0, Divock Origi scored on the break 37 seconds after entering the fray as a substitute, and defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Kolo Toure were also on the scoresheet as Villa surrendered.

"The whole package was not too bad today," Klopp told Sky Sports. "Everything good happened today because Aston Villa were very ambitious before the game but under pressure.

"We made a brilliant first goal. We had a few more chances and this was very important. It does not happen too much where as a manager can enjoy the last 20 minutes. A very clear result in the end."

The German said he was justified in his careful handling of Sturridge and Coutinho as they continue their comebacks after injury. He added that the extra depth they help provide would be important as Liverpool contemplate the resumption of European action on Thursday and a trip to Wembley.

"It makes a difference having both Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge are on the pitch," Klopp said. "You can only play them when they are fit and available. We want the highest quality on the pitch as much as possible, you saw that today.

"We are always clear. When you are injured and out, you need time and when you are back, you are back. It is a situation where you want to play football, it is good Sturridge can do this now.

"We have two Europa League games coming up, then the League Cup final. They are big games and we will see who we can bring in.

"We broke the opponent after the third or fourth goal. After that they cannot come back into the game."

Sturridge had not started in the league since October during an injury-plagued season which has included a hip problem, knee injury, foot issue and hamstring trouble. Klopp was delighted to have him back.

"We need the goals of Daniel and he needs the goals. For me it's not a surprise he can score goals," Klopp said. "He is a real striker. It's really good to see. When he hides himself on the pitch it's really difficult to defend [against] if he is always somewhere.

"He changed a lot of things but we can only speak about this when he is available. When he's not we cannot say 'but with Daniel it would have been different.' It was brilliant and you saw he was not too happy when we took him off.

"It was perfect for him and hopefully he is available for us for the next game. It was a perfect goal and it's good for us when we have all players available. In football life is not like this and you have to get results when you don't have all players available."

Milner added: "We needed a win after a few disappointments recently. It was important to do that job and we had a few boys back in training.

"We were due a game where everything went for us and we need to build on this. It is a good confidence builder and help us kick on for the rest of the season."
