Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge makes return to full training

Daniel Sturridge has returned to full training as he edges closer to a Liverpool comeback.

On Monday, manager Jurgen Klopp told a news conference that Sturridge -- sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury at Newcastle on Dec. 6 -- was expected to join the rest of the squad for a training session at the club's Melwood training ground.

The England international duly trained with all the players who did not start the 2-0 defeat at league leaders Leicester on Tuesday.

Klopp has said he wants Sturridge, 26, to train for 10 to 12 days consecutively before he will consider him for selection, meaning it is unlikely that he will be in contention for either Saturday's visit of Sunderland or Tuesday's FA Cup replay at West Ham.

Fellow striker Divock Origi, out since Boxing Day with a hamstring strain, and playmaker Philippe Coutinho, sidelined since Jan. 5 with a similar problem, are scheduled to resume full training on Thursday.

Centre-back Martin Skrtel, who suffered a hamstring injury in the defeat at Watford on Dec. 20, could return to training at the weekend.
