Danny Ings' Liverpool transfer fee to be determined by Premier League tribunal

Liverpool have been asked by the Premier League to submit their case ahead of an independent tribunal that will decide how much they must pay Burnley for Danny Ings.

The striker, 23, agreed to join the Reds in June as his contract at Turf Moor was expiring, with his fee to be settled by an arbitration process that is now under way, sources have told ESPN FC.

FIFA rules dictate that a professional club are entitled to compensation for out-of-contract players aged under 24.

Liverpool and Burnley have been unable to agree a fee, which will be set instead by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC), the tribunal system which deals with such disputes in the English game.

Both clubs will present their case to the PFCC, which is likely to sit in January, to consider the evidence before delivering a verdict.

Liverpool have offered around £6 million for Ings, but Burnley value him significantly higher, having reportedly received an offer of £12 million from Tottenham shorty before the move to Anfield was agreed.

The England international is currently recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in October, but hopes to be back before the end of the season.
