Liverpool hope Philippe Coutinho will be fit to face Swansea - sources

Liverpool are hopeful that Philippe Coutinho will be fit for Sunday's Premier League match against Swansea, sources have told ESPN FC, despite the midfielder suffering a hamstring injury.

Coutinho, 23, limped off during Saturday's 4-1 win at Manchester City, and caused sufficient concern for the club to send him for a scan on Monday.

The initial verdict of Liverpool's medical staff is that the problem is not as bad as first feared, according to sources.

The Brazil international is set to miss Thursday's Europa League match against Bordeaux at Anfield, but could be fit for the visit of Swansea.

Coutinho scored Liverpool's second goal and set up the third for Roberto Firmino in a dominant display at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

He has been in impressive form in recent weeks, scoring four goals in his last three Premier League appearances.
