Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp proud of Robert Lewandowski's rise

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he takes great pride in having seen Robert Lewandowski turn into one of the world's best strikers after first signing him as a relative unknown at Borussia Dortmund.

Klopp, who was appointed the new Reds boss on Thursday, brought Lewandowski to Dortmund from Lech Poznan in 2010.

It was under Klopp at BVB that the Poland international made a name for himself, helping the club to back-to-back Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final, before eventually joining Bayern Munich in 2014.

Lewandowski continues to go from strength to strength at Bayern, having hit 14 goals in his last five games for club and country, and Klopp has taken some personal fulfilment from his rise.

"The biggest satisfaction you can get is when you take a player from Poland, from a small club and watch him play like he does today," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

"The difference between that player we signed and the player he is today is unbelievable."

Just a few days into his new job at Liverpool and Klopp has already been linked with a move for Lewandowski, while sources have told ESPN FC that Swansea forward Andre Ayew is also a target.
