Roberto Firmino out of Brazil squad for World Cup qualifiers, Oliveira in

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil coach Dunga has called up 35-year-old striker Ricardo Oliveira for World Cup qualifiers next month against Chile and Venezuela.

The Brazilian soccer confederation announced the move in Thursday, with Oliveira replacing Roberto Firmino of Liverpool, who has a back injury.

Firmino started Liverpool's League Cup penalty shoot-out win against Carlisle United on Wednesday, but was substituted in the 35th minute after landing awkwardly.

Oliveira of Santos has scored 17 goals to lead Brazil's top league.

He won the 2004 Copa America and the 2005 Confederations Cup with Brazil and has played in Europe for Valencia, Betis, AC Milan and Zaragoza. He has scored three goals for the national team.

Brazil plays at Chile on Oct. 8 and is home against Venezuela on Oct. 13.
