Jose Enrique vows to battle for his place at Liverpool

Liverpool outcast Jose Enrique has pledged to focus on football in an attempt to prove himself -- and his first move has been to quit social media.

The Spaniard is unwanted by manager Brendan Rodgers and has been made to train alone with Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini, both of whom left in the transfer window.

West Brom were understood to be interested in a deadline-day move for the left-back but he denied that, tweeting: "Just to let you all know that it wasn't any offer from West Brom for me. I'm happy to stay and fight for my place."

An hour later, Enrique posted one final message on social media before deactivating both his Twitter and Instagram accounts -- for which he has received a great deal of criticism and abuse from fans who have seen more of the 29-year-old on his holidays and at leisure than they have on the pitch.

"I thought it was good to share with the fans pictures but I think they have been killing me for that," wrote Enrique, whose last appearance came in the FA Cup at Bolton in January.

"Ok, ciao Instagram and Twitter. Focus on play football and show myself again."
