Roberto Firmino's Liverpool career to get flying start, says Fabio Aurelio

Liverpool's new Brazilian recruit, Roberto Firmino, has been backed to settle quickly into life at Anfield by his compatriot and former Anfield defender Fabio Aurelio.

Firmino's experience in the Bundesliga -- as well as the presence of Lucas Leiva and Philippe Coutinho -- will stand him in good stead, according to the first Brazil international to sign with the Merseyside club when he joined from Valencia in 2006.

"He is used to living in Europe having spent the last few years in Germany," Aurelio told Liverpool's official website.

"So it won't be that difficult for him because he'll have the help of two Brazilians that are already there in the Liverpool squad. He is used to European football as well, so I believe that he will adapt very quickly.

"My own experience was coming from another team in Europe -- Valencia. I spent six years there before I joined Liverpool. So it wasn't as difficult."

Aurelio added that Firmino was already up to speed with the European style of football and that the former Hoffenheim player would hit the ground running once he met up with his Reds teammates.

"Lucas had that problem; when he first arrived at Liverpool," Aurelio said. "He came straight from Brazil and a very different competition and a different rhythm of game. He suffered a lot in his first two years, then once he adapted to it he became the player we all know.

"But I think Firmino will have an easier way than Lucas and more similar to me, because he is coming from a European team with a few years already there and is used to the weather. He shouldn't have many problems to adapt."

Firmino scored 47 goals in 151 appearances for Hoffenheim and Aurelio believes that Liverpool have made the right choice in recruiting the attacker for a reported £29 million.

"He is a very promising player," he continued. "He has had quick progress in his career, especially in the past two years.

"Of course, now a few good appearances with the national team have increased the interest of many, many clubs.

"But Liverpool, because of its history and he already knows about [the club] made the difference to make the decision to join Liverpool.

"He is a good finisher and a clever player, he knows how to move well behind the lines and find good spaces behind defenders as well, to have clear options to score.

"But not only that, he can also give various assists to other players. So I think Liverpool have signed a very promising player that could improve a lot together with the club."
