Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool chairman Tom Werner set to meet - sources

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner will arrive on Merseyside this week to conduct an end-of-season review with manager Brendan Rodgers, sources told ESPN FC.

Werner is set to meet Rodgers on Wednesday to discuss the slump that saw the Reds take just eight points from their final nine Premier League games and miss out on the FA Cup final.

Sources have previously said the manager's job is not under threat, despite the fact that the club missed out on both of their targets for the season just completed.

Rodgers was tasked with securing Champions League qualification and a trophy, but managed neither as Liverpool finished sixth.

Their silverware chances ended with a 2-1 FA Cup semifinal defeat against Aston Villa at Wembley on April 19, while their league campaign ended in humiliation as they were beaten 6-1 at Stoke.

Rodgers, who arrived at Anfield from Swansea in June 2012, signed a four-year contract in 2014.

He has yet to win a trophy in three years with Liverpool, and is expected to face difficult questions regarding the club's under-performance.

The Reds had expected to push on after finishing as Premier League runners-up in 2014, spending around £110 million on nine players, but progress has not been achieved.

Reports in recent days had suggested that Rodgers could be sacked and replaced by Jurgen Klopp.

But Klopp, whose reign as Borussia Dortmund coach ended following their 3-1 defeat against Wolfsburg in the German Cup final on Saturday, has said that he plans to take a break from football "until further notice."
