Brendan Rodgers' job at Liverpool still safe after loss to Stoke - sources

Brendan Rodgers' position as Liverpool manager remains secure despite the embarrassment of Sunday's 6-1 Premier League defeat at Stoke.

Rodgers acknowledged after the match -- which brought the club's heaviest defeat since 1963 -- that his job could be under threat.

But the manager's future will not be on the agenda when he takes part in an annual end-of-season review with American owners Fenway Sports Group, sources have told ESPN FC.

Both FSG and Rodgers will be seeking answers to the problems that caused Liverpool's form to slump over the final two months of the season.

The Reds were in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League in late March thanks to a 13-match unbeaten Premier League run.

But they finished sixth after collecting just eight points from their final nine league matches, while their hopes of a trophy were ended by an FA Cup semifinal defeat against an Aston Villa side who only just avoided relegation.

Despite the poor end to the season, FSG have continued to support Rodgers, who declared he was "150 percent" sure of being in charge next season during a briefing with British newspapers on Friday.

The manager's remark after Sunday's humiliation at Stoke that "if the owners want me to go, I go", was an acknowledgement that his situation might have changed.

But FSG will continue to back Rodgers while aiming to ensure that the club produce a stronger challenge in the Premier League next season.
