Adam Lallana: Liverpool can still catch Manchester United

Adam Lallana believes Liverpool can still take England's fourth and final Champions League spot following Manchester United's dip in form.

Brendan Rodgers' side are fifth in the Premier League, four points behind fourth-placed United with only three games left, but three successive defeats for Louis van Gaal's team have revived Liverpool's hopes of catching them.

"It's not over yet," midfielder Lallana said in the Liverpool Echo. "We can still finish in the top four but we need to take maximum points now.

"We'll keep fighting right to the end. We all know what can happen. United have some tough games to play and I am sure they will drop more points."

United visit mid-table Crystal Palace on Saturday before finishing with a home match against third-placed Arsenal and a trip to relegation-threatened Hull.

Liverpool travel to Chelsea on Sunday before hosting Palace and going to Stoke.

Rodgers' side may well need to win all three games if they are to overtake United, but Lallana has not ruled that out.

He added: "We have to put pressure on United by going to Stamford Bridge and getting three points. Pressure is a tough thing to deal with.

"We need to beat Chelsea and Palace and hope it all comes down to the final weekend."

Chelsea secured the Premier League title last Sunday with a 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace, and Liverpool will pay tribute with a guard of honour before this weekend's match.

Lallana, though, says that will be as far as the pleasantries go.

He said: "We have to use it as motivation. Chelsea deserve to be champions. The table doesn't lie. They have been the best team throughout the season.

"You have to respect that, whether you like it or not. All I know is we want to go there and spoil the party. We're looking to go there and cause an upset and put a dent in their celebrations."
