Daniel Sturridge wants to start more games for Liverpool following injury

Daniel Sturridge says he does not want to be "eased in" by Liverpool following his return from injury and would much rather play in every game for the club.

Sturridge, 25, missed five months of the season after being injured on England duty in September, before returning with a goal in the 2-0 win against West Ham on Jan. 31.

However, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has chosen not to rush his striker back into the fold too quickly, with Sturridge having had to watch from the bench in recent weeks as the club have found their form.

Sturridge scored in Liverpool's 2-0 win against Burnley on Wednesday -- after starting just his second Premier League game since his return -- and he is hopeful he can now keep hold of his place in the first team.

"I feel good since I've come back, ready to play every game," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I don't want to be eased in but I suppose with everything they want to ease me in. But I want to play every game."

Jordan Henderson scored Liverpool's opener against Burnley, as well as setting up Sturridge for his strike, and he is delighted to see his teammate fit again.

"It's amazing to have him back," he said. "His movement is great, he held the ball up outstandingly and his finish, well, he's always a threat in the area."
