New signings excellent - Rodgers (1:19)

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says his summer signings have impressed him so far. (1:19)

New Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno says the Anfield side must again finish in the Premier League top four this season.

Brendan Rodgers' team finished in second place last season, securing a return to Europe's premier club competition after four seasons looking in from outside.

The loss of last year's star man Luis Suarez looks a blow for the hopes of repeating last season's achievements, while rivals including Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton also have hopes of breaking into the top four this term.

Liverpool have however strengthened with signings including Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic, Rickie Lambert and Javier Manquillo and the 20 million euro signing from Sevilla says the current panel just has to qualify for the Champions League again.

"A spectacular squad has been put together, with very good players coming in," Moreno told reporters while back at a 'farewell' event at his old club. "I believe that this year we must qualify for the Champions League by whatever means necessary."

Already a full Spain international, the 22-year-old said it had been a wrench leaving the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan, but he hoped to eventually finish his career back at his home town club.

"This is not a goodbye, but until later," he said. "I hope to be back here one day. I never imagined this would hurt so much, but when you start to say goodbye to teammates and all the people, it hurts. I am leaving to learn everything I can at Liverpool and to be able to retire back at Sevilla."
