Lille appoint Frederic Antonetti as new manager after poor start

Frederic Antonetti has been appointed as Lille's new coach.

The 54-year-old succeeds Herve Renard, who was sacked on Nov. 11 after a dismal start to the season.

A statement on the club's website announced: "LOSC have reached an agreement this Sunday with their new coach, Frederic Antonetti.

"The new Lille coach will tomorrow [Monday] sign a contract for three years and will lead the team for the first time in Ligue 1 against Angers on Saturday November 28."

Antonetti has previously managed in Ligue 1 with four clubs, most recently Rennes until leaving his post in 2013. He also won the Ligue 2 title with St. Etienne in 2004 and has reached Coupe de la Ligue finals with Bastia, Nice and Rennes.

He takes over a side 17th in Ligue 1 with only two wins to their credit this season. Les Dogues drew 1-1 with Troyes on Saturday.
