Fabio Liverani leaves League One club Leyton Orient by mutual consent

Fabio Liverani has left his role as manager of Leyton Orient by mutual consent.

The former Italy international, who took charge at Brisbane Road in December 2014, could not keep the O's in League One as they suffered relegation less than a year after being on the brink of a place in the Championship.

Liverani's assistants Maurizio Cantarelli and Marcello Donatelli have also left.

A brief statement on the club's official website said: "The club would like to thank Fabio, Maurizio and Marcello for their efforts this season, and we wish them all the best for the future.

"The Club will now focus on rebuilding for next season, in the hope that we can make a swift return to League One.

"We do not underestimate the challenge that we will face in the coming season, but the players and staff will work together to achieve the success that our loyal fans deserve. We thank you for your ongoing support.''

Orient were beaten by Rotherham in the League One playoff final last season under the stewardship of Russell Slade, who left the London club in September to take charge at Cardiff.
