Leyton Orient have named Fabio Liverani as their fourth manager of the season after sacking Mauro Milanese.

The League One club have turned to former Genoa coach Liverani after deciding to axe Milanese, who had been in charge for only 43 days and won two of his eight games at the helm.

Liverani, who has signed a two-and-a-half year deal, told the London club's official website: "I'm excited about this challenge and cannot wait to get started at Leyton Orient.

"This is a long-term project, and we will work together to make it a success."

The former Italy international must try to steer Orient away from the fringes of the League One relegation zone.

Former O's manager Russell Slade, who left for Cardiff earlier on this season, took them to the playoff final last season but saw Rotherham win on penalties.

Liverani's first match in charge will be at home to Peterborough on Saturday.
