Leicester players set for Champions League cash bonuses - sources

Leicester City's squad are in line for a cash windfall as reward for their Champions League success, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

Premier League champions Leicester booked their place in the Champions League's round of 16 on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win Club Brugge in their first ever season in the competition.

The Foxes have secured top spot in Group G with a game to spare and have more points from their five games in the Champions League (13) than they have from 12 in the Premier League this season (12).

The squad were handed big bonuses last season for winning the title, with owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha providing each member of the title-winning squad a super car.

Leicester's 24-man Champions League squad are now in line for a bonus of around £100,000 each for reaching the knockout stages of the competition as part of a deal agreed in the summer over incentives.

The players and club could stand to land even bigger financial rewards if Leicester continue to progress in the Champions League, with prize money increasing as the tournament progresses.
