Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton signs new contract through to 2020

Marc Albrighton has committed his future to Premier League champions Leicester City by signing a new four-year contract at the club.

Albrighton, 26, joined Leicester from Aston Villa two years ago on a Bosman free transfer and had two years remaining on his deal. He has now put pen to paper to stay at the King Power Stadium until 2020.

He initially struggled to establish himself in the Leicester side upon his arrival before playing an instrumental role in their successful survival fight in the 2014-15 season as the Foxes won seven of their last nine matches to stay up.

The winger then became a regular in the side under Claudio Ranieri and provided six assists and two goals on the way to their title success.

"The club has been great to me since I signed, I've had some amazing times here and we've reached the ultimate by winning the league last year," Albrighton told the club's official website. "I just think there's a really good feeling around the place.

"Everyone seems to want to stay at the club and I think that's a massive credit to how far the Club has come in the last few years. It's exciting times for Leicester City Football Club and I want to be a part of that."

Leicester moved to reward the midfielder with a new deal in line with what they have done with other stars of the title winning team like Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel, Riyad Mahrez, Wes Morgan and Danny Drinkwater.

Albrighton's agent, Tim Webb, confirmed the deal was sorted out pretty quickly with the player keen to extend his stay at the club.

"Negotiations have been ongoing for a short while," Webb said. "Marc was keen to stay at the club and continue the journey with this committed and close group of players.

"Having featured in all 38 Premier League matches last season, Marc is looking forward to this campaign and of course the club's first experience of Champions League football."
