Andy King in talks over new contract with Leicester City - sources

Leicester City are in talks with midfielder Andy King over a new contract, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

King is entering the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium, but Leicester are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

The 27-year-old is Leicester's longest-serving player, having been with the Foxes since 2004, and he has been instrumental in their rise from League One to Premier League champions during his time at the club.

King, who was part of the Wales squad that reached the semifinals of Euro 2016, is highly regarded by Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri and his coaching staff having made over 300 appearances for the club.

The dynamic central midfielder made 29 appearances in all competitions last season for Leicester as they secured the Premier League title and he is set to play a key role next season as they get ready for the challenge of retaining their trophy and competing in the Champions League.

Sources have told ESPN FC that talks between both parties are at an advanced stage and Leicester hope to tie up the deal before the start of the new season.

News of King's new deal will come as a boost to Leicester and their fans after seeing fellow midfielder N'Golo Kante leave for Chelsea last week.
