Danny Drinkwater a contender for England's Euro squad - Peter Taylor

Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater is being backed to force his way into the England squad for Euro 2016 according to Peter Taylor.

The uncapped midfielder has been a consistent performer in Leicester's unlikely yet incredible title charge, giving England boss Roy Hodgson another option in midfield as he looks to finalise his 23-man squad.

Hodgson has already given first caps to Dele Alli and Eric Dier this season and, ahead of England's friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands next month, Drinkwater could be in contention to join up with the senior squad.

Former Foxes boss Peter Taylor, who was caretaker manager for the Three Lions in 2000, told talkSPORT: "He has been brought up the right way at Manchester United.

"He is a very, very good player and at the end of the season if you have got good players that have still got good energy, which I'm sure that boy will have, then he has got to be a contender [for Euro 2016 selection]."

Danny Murphy, BBC Match of the Day pundit and co-host on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on Monday, is also backing Drinkwater to find his way into Hodgson's plans. "He makes the squad for me at the moment," said the ex-England midfielder.

"He has got more than just legs and good work ethic."

The 25 year-old has featured 23 times for Leicester this season, pitching in with one goal and four assists, forming one of the best midfield partnerships in the English top flight alongside French midfielder N'Golo Kante.
