Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri hailed Jamie Vardy's stunning goal in the 2-0 win over Liverpool as "unbelievable," while the striker said he is not planning on leaving the club anytime soon.
Vardy showed why he is so highly valued at the King Power Stadium on the hour mark as he got on the end of a long ball from deep by Riyad Mahrez.
The England striker was instantly on the move, leaving Dejan Lovren trailing, and he allowed the ball to drop over his shoulder before unleashing a first-time half-volley from 25 yards which screamed over Simon Mignolet.
Shortly after he doubled the lead from closer range to keep Leicester top of the league and seal a massive win.
"Amazing. The first goal was unbelievable," Ranieri told the BBC. "We played very well and pressed a lot against a very good team. Jamie is very fast and can create a lot but it was unbelievable how Mahrez found him and how he had the time to see the keeper out of the goal and scored a fantastic goal.
"The team is in good condition. Now it is important to recover the energy because we have to run a lot against Manchester City. We are free of pressure. The players have a good feeling."
Before the match, it emerged that talks had begun over a deal until 2019, and Vardy said he intends to stay.
He told Sky Sports: "It's nothing people don't know, I'd like to be here for a long time.
"I don't [think I've scored better]. I had been looking all game and [Mignolet] was quite far off his line. As soon as Riyad had played it through it's bounced quite high and I've got no support so I just took my chance and luckily it's gone over the top of him."
Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater added: "Jamie Vardy's first goal was incredible. You think he's going to square it but he hits it top corner. It sums his season up. He can turn an average ball into a great ball.
"Every player in this team is working their socks off. It's not a coincidence we're top of the table. This is team spirit at its highest. We won't stop believing. We're staying on the ground but if we carry on the way we are then why not have the belief [to win the league]? It would go down in history surely."
Even Jurgen Klopp had praise for Vardy's goal, though it came with his typical smirk.
"It's nice to be in a stadium when Jamie Vardy makes the goal of the month but, in an ideal world, not when you're the manager of the other team. It made the difference," Klopp said.
Leicester dominated for long spells and deserved their victory, but Ranieri admitted they face a different test when they go to their top-of-the-table clash at the Etihad at the weekend.
"On Saturday we have to run, run and run a lot," he said. "It's important to see my players fight and try to win. We know sooner or later we'll lose a match but it's important how we lose. If there is a great goal, well done, but we have to fight. If Manchester City fight more than us, well done to them."
