Neil Lennon happy to be linked with vacant Leicester City position

Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon would welcome the chance to be considered for the vacant manager's position at his former club Leicester City, sources have told ESPN.

Leicester are eager to appoint a new manager swiftly following the sacking of Nigel Pearson on Tuesday, with Lennon quickly installed as the favourite for the post by bookmakers.

Lennon was a firm favourite of the Leicester supporters during his time as a player at the club between 1996 and 2000, with the Northern Ireland midfielder playing a pivotal role in two League Cup final wins under the guidance of manager Martin O'Neill.

After winning five major trophies during his time as Celtic boss and succeeding in his task of keeping Bolton in the Championship following his appointment last October, the 44-year-old may now consider the time has come to test himself in England's Premier League.

Former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is another high profile candidate being linked with the Leicester job, but the appeal of appointing Foxes old-boy Lennon may appeal to the club's owners.

Ex-Leicester boss O'Neill -- who is currently in charge of the Republic of Ireland national team -- is another romantic option for Leicester chiefs, with ex-Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo also being linked with the post.

Meanwhile, ESPN sources have confirmed that Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill is also being considered for the Leicester vacancy.
