Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has set his rock bottom side the challenge of winning half their remaining fixtures to beat the Premier League drop.

The Foxes were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Hull in a game they had highlighted as a chance to get back to winning ways.

They had a numerical advantage for the last 19 minutes following Tom Huddlestone's sending off, but again could not find a cutting edge in attack.

The stalemate left them seven points adrift of safety after just four wins in their first 28 matches, and Pearson said: "We've got 10 games left, six at home, and we probably need to win five. Today's game shows how tough it can be.

"We are in the same sort of position as before. We have six games at home so our home form has to be drastically improved to give us the best chance.

"Today I think the players expected to get three points, so it is disappointing to come away with one.

"To get the three we needed to be more committed to our attacking play.

"I'm not sure we could have played any more of an attacking style, but if players are having a bit of an off day they're having an off day. We had an indifferent day with the ball.''

Pearson said he strongly disagreed with comments made by opposite number Steve Bruce, who implied that Leicester players' reaction had seen two of his players booked for what he believed were fair challenges.

He said: "You're asking me and I've told you. No, I don't think it's a fair assessment. Full stop."
