Leicester still working on transfers this window, says Nigel Pearson

Nigel Pearson has refused to rule out further new arrivals at Leicester before the transfer window closes, with reports on Thursday linking his club to Stoke defender Robert Huth.

The Foxes boss has already signed Mark Schwarzer and Andrej Kramaric this window and is still hunting new players

Press Association and Sky Sports reported on Thrusday that Leicester are interested in bringing Huth to the King Power Stadium.

Huth has made just four appearances for Stoke this season and has struggled with a recent knee injury but Leicester are believed to be keen on signing the German on loan before Monday's transfer deadline. Huth, 30, has been at the Britannia Stadium for six years since joining from Middlesbrough, making 187 appearances and scoring 18 goals.

Pearson is keen to avoid any late rush ahead of Monday's deadline but will add to the Foxes' ranks if he can.

"We have tried do the business we wanted to do and got two done very quickly. If we can strengthen we will -- if stays the way it is, it will," he said.

"I've got no idea if it'll go right to wire -- I won't be sitting in my office until late. In an ideal world I don't see why deals are done so late, if you get involved with that you do but I certainly won't be getting involved myself.

"All I think about is what we're trying to do, I'm not interested in other people. We have tried to do the business we wanted to.

"It's nice to have options, we've managed to keep a relatively fit squad and hopefully that will continue."

Meanwhile, Pearson has revealed Matt Upson's injury nightmare is over and he is ready to make his Foxes return.

The defender is yet to play for Pearson after suffering a foot injury immediately after joining the club from Brighton in the summer.

Upson may still sit out Saturday's Premier League trip to Manchester United but Pearson expects him to make his bow imminently.

He said: "Upson is more or less available now which is very positive for us, he's got a lot of experience.

"Some players need a few more games but someone of his experience and game understanding would get more from being involved with us and training with the first team.

"Hopefully once Matt gets on the pitch he can do what he set out to do. It's been frustrating for the lad too.

"I'm delighted I have someone of his ability and experience becoming available for an important stage of the season. Players don't get injured on purpose, it's good to have him available."
