Freddy Adu on trial with new USL club Las Vegas Lights

Former United States midfielder Freddy Adu is on trial with the Las Vegas Lights of the USL.

Adu, 28, wrote last week that he was prepared to return to playing after not linking up with a team in 2017.

The Las Vegas club is preparing for its inaugural season in USL, the second-division league in the U.S., and Adu was spotted at training on Tuesday by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Lights owner Brett Lashbrook told the newspaper that the club would not comment on any trialist.

Adu has bounced around the world since making his professional debut for MLS club D.C. United as a 14-year-old in 2004. The midfielder was inactive for all of 2017 following a two-and-a-half-year spell with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL.

Reports in Sweden had linked Adu with a move to Swedish third-division club Oskarshamns AIK last month, but no deal was struck.
