Liga MX Club America sporting director Ricardo Pelaez said a short-term Club World Cup loan for LA Galaxy forward Giovani Dos Santos is not on his radar.
"We will look at the circumstances, if it could be done, we would look into it, but it is not on my mind at this time," the former Mexico national team sporting director told Mexico daily Mediotiempo.com. "We haven't ever talked about it and I wouldn't like to anticipate anything. We have a very good team and I don't want to show and disrespect toward my players by saying that we are going to bring this or that players.
"It is not a topic of conversation right now, not with the coaching nor management staff, we haven't even contemplated it and I think we have a very good team that can compete at the level of play we are facing."
Dos Santos has previously said that he is a fan of Club America, for whom his father and older brother both played.
The LA Galaxy and America have a potential CONCACAF Champions League matchup as both clubs advanced to quarterfinals this week.
By MLS rules, a player can be loaned to the club of another league if the player approves of the switch.
Club World Cup play, which pits the best clubs from the seven FIFA regions, is set for Japan from Dec. 10-20, the same time as MLS post-season play. America open against the Asian Champions League winners and if they win, would then face Barcelona.
"They have won everything, European champions, everything, what can you say," said Pelaez of potential rivals Barcelona. "But that motivates us."
