Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has assured supporters that the club's 'family' will not be distracted from their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup assignment despite the controversy affecting the club. The Kenyan giants face Tanzania's Young Africans on Wednesday in a Group D clash at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi. However, preparations for that fixture have been far from ideal, with a fissure developing between players and management. The squad are demanding their share of the prize money allegedly owed to them for qualifying for the Confed Cup group stage. The club have also been suspended for competing in the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Cup for two years following indiscipline during the recent edition of the tournament in Tanzania. "These players mean a lot to me because they are my family. They must be happy and a lot of transparency should be shown going forward," Kerr told journalists after a meeting between the club board members, players and chairman Ambrose Rachier on Monday. "The chairman explained the issue of finances in the club and contracts of players and we hope we can learn from this experience." he added. "I am from Britain and have the mentality where no one messes with my family, and here the players are my family and deserve the best. "I am proud of my players and I hope they will die a little for the Club [on Wednesday]," he continued. "We have been missing chances, but my players have the mentality to go and show the African public as many will be watching the game." Gor currently have two points from their opening two Group D matches and sit second in the pool behind Algerian heavyweights USM Alger. Rayon Sports are third on two points, with Yanga at the foot of the table with one point. "These recent problems that we have had will not disorganize my players and we are hungry to go to the field and make the people of Kenya proud," Kerr concluded. Elsewhere, Rayon Sports face USM Alger, with coach Roberto Oliveira Goncalves de Calmo telling his side's media officer that the Rwandan side viewed this game as a potential turning point in their campaign. "We are looking forward to USM Alger tie because it will determine much about our future and our chances in the group," he began. "Winning it will be a very good turning point in our continental football campaign."
