Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri signs contract extension until 2018

Massimiliano Allegri has signed a new contract with Juventus until 2018, the Turin club confirmed on Friday evening.

The former AC Milan coach's previous deal was due to expire in the summer, but having guided the Bianconeri to back-to-back Scudettos, the 48-year-old has been rewarded with a new deal.

He will look to lead the Serie A club to a record sixth straight title next season, while bidding to go even further in the Champions League after being eliminated in the last 16 by Bayern Munich this term.

"Juventus Football Club is delighted to announce that Massimiliano Allegri has signed an extended contract that ties him to the club until 30 June 2018," read a statement on the club's website.

"Following his first season in the Bianconeri dugout, which yielded Scudetto honours and a historic 10th Coppa Italia success, Allegri penned a new agreement until 2017, and his fine work in steering the club to Italian Super Cup and Quinquennio glory has been rewarded by another fresh deal."

Shortly after putting pen to paper on his new contract, the Leghorn-born coach tweeted his delight at committing to two more years in Turin.

Juve are still on course for a second straight league and cup double. They face AC Milan in the final of the Coppa Italia in Rome on May 21 and can now prepare for that game safe in the knowledge that Allegri will still be in charge of the team next season.
