Juventus' Paul Pogba needs Zidane and Platini's mentality - Mauro

Former Juventus midfielder Massimo Mauro has urged Paul Pogba to change his mentality if he wants to become a truly world-class player like Michel Platini or Zinedine Zidane.

Mauro, who won two Serie A titles with Juventus and Napoli in his time, reckons the young Frenchman has the ability to emulate his countrymen and become a legend in Turin.

"[Pogba's] got the quality. Quality-wise he is extraordinary." Mauro told Omnisport.

"To become like [Platini and Zidane], he hasn't got to touch too much of the ball when there is no need, he hasn't got to wave his arms in complaint when he doesn't receive a pass, he doesn't have to show the hundred thousands attendance [that] his teammates don't move.

"If you do that, you are not a world-class player, you don't gel in the team. He is very young."

At 22 years of age, Pogba has already won three Serie A title and the Coppa Italia with the Turin giants. He has played more than 100 games for Juventus, with 25 goals to his name.

Despite his achievements, Mauro reckons the young midfield prodigy needs to develop that one quality that will elevate him to the next level, and lead Juventus to more glory like Zidane and Platini have.

"I hope he will understand pretty soon that to be a referral point in a very important club and become a top player, you have to improve from the behavioural point of view. To be good at playing football is not enough," Mauro added.

"He has to get his winning mentality. A youngster has to realise what makes you a winner. Either you have it in yourself but only age is preventing you from showing it or you will never become a leader, therefore a great in football."

Pogba's focus is on the top-of-the-table clash at home to Napoli on Feb. 14 where a win will see them take over the visitors at the top of the Serie A standings.
