Mario Lemina eager to prove himself at Juventus after Marseille frustration

Recent Juventus signing Mario Lemina is looking forward to the challenge of earning a first-team role in Turin following his recent loan move from French side Marseille.

Lemina, 22, joined the Italian champions on a season-long loan just before the transfer window closed, although Juve have an option to make the move permanent next summer for a reported €12 million.

"I'm very happy. It is the biggest club in Italy and an opportunity to show what I can do on the international stage," Lemina said in an interview with France's RMC Sport.

"I am going to have to show my qualities. I know that [Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri] likes what I do on the pitch and that he will make me progress as a player.

"Serie A is a very difficult league, very tactical. I'll have to put in a lot of work on the training ground before I can win a place in the team."

Lemina -- who can play in midfield and at right-back -- won the Under-20 World Cup with France in 2013 but has chosen to represent Gabon at full international level.

The youngster admitted regret at having never establishing himself as a regular in two years at Marseille, but acknowledged that OM were keen to move him on to bring in much-needed funds on top of the money made from the sales of Giannelli Imbula to Porto and Florian Thauvin to Newcastle United.

"I had two years at Marseille that weren't always easy," he said. "When I arrived, the coach [Elie Baup] already had his team in mind. The second year, I got injured in preseason. That did not make my integration easy.

"I knew that Marseille would need to sell me for more than they paid for me [around €5m to Lorient]. My departure and those of Giannelli and Florian were an opportunity to bring some money in."
