Sami Khedira wants to help Juventus to more success in Champions League

Sami Khedira has spoken of his delight at agreeing to join Champions League runners-up Juventus on a free transfer.

Khedira, 28, will officially become a Juve player on July after his contract with Real Madrid has expired. And he is looking forward to enjoying more success with the Serie A champions, with whom he has signed a four-year contract.

"They are a fantastic club, a club with a lot of tradition, a splendid present and a bright future," he told the German FA's website. "It's no coincidence that they have joined the European top clubs this season. I am convinced that Juve will continue to have some say in the awarding of the big European trophies.

"I want to contribute my share. I am very much looking forward to this new challenge at a new club, in a new league, and a new country. I can't wait to get to know the club and my teammates."

Speaking to reporters while on Italy duty, Juve defender Leonardo Bonucci also said he looked forward to playing with the Germany international.

Bonucci said: "He's an important signing, there's a continuous line of international players arriving at Juventus. It can only improve the squad."

Juve, who have now won the Italian title four years in a row, beat Schalke to the midfielder's signature.

Looking back at his five years at Madrid, Khedira said that he wants to be remembered "as a professional player and a fair sportsman."

"I'd be delighted if the people said: 'He's one of us. He is a Madridista.' I gave my all for the club for five years, and my wish is that the people acknowledge it.

"Real Madrid is in my heart, and the club will always remain there."
