Stephan Lichtsteiner signs two-year contract extension with Juve until 2017

Swiss wing-back Stephan Lichtsteiner has committed his future to Juventus for the next two years by signing a new contract with the Italian champions.

The 30-year-old former Lazio and Lille player has won the Serie A title three times with Juve while making 134 appearances and scoring 11 goals since he joined for 10 million euros in 2011.

Lichtsteiner, an attack-minded defender, had been set to walk away from the Juventus Stadium in the summer but his new deal ties him to the Bianconeri until 2017 and includes the option for a third year.

A statement on the club website read: "The journey of 'The Swiss Express' continues alongside Juve!''

Lichtsteiner's senior career began in Zurich with Grasshoppers in 2001 and he has earned 60 caps for Switzerland.
