Juventus set to offer midfielder Paul Pogba improved contract - reports

Juventus want midfielder Paul Pogba to sign a new and improved contract, reports in Italy have said.

- Johnson: What will PSG do with Adrien Rabiot?

The France international, who shone in the 1-1 friendly draw with Serbia, attracted interest from a host of top clubs in the summer, and the Serie A champions are eager to ensure that he is not tempted to move.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Pogba currently earns 1.5 million euros a year. Kwadwo Asamoah is ahead of him on 1.6 million, with Martin Caceres earning 1.8 million. Carlos Tevez is the club's best-paid player on 3.5 million euros.

According to both Mediaset and Tuttosport, an offer of 4.5 million euros a year -- which would make Pogba the club's best-paid player -- is on the table, with a one-year contract extension until 2019 included.

That salary would still be significantly less than the league's highest-paid player, Roma's Daniele De Rossi who is on 6.5 million euros a year.

Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is also set to be offered a new contract that will see him end his career at the club. His current deal expires in 2017, when he will be 39.
