Brazil blast four past Peru; Panama, Canada settle for draw

Brazil rode a first-half flurry of goals to drop Peru 4-0 in the second Group A game at the Pan Am Games football tournament on Thursday.

Luan Garcia Teixeira got Brazil started straight away with a goal in the third minute as the squad picked up right where they left off in a 4-1 drubbing of Canada on Sunday.

It took teammate Clayton another 17 minutes to net Brazil's second goal of the match, but two more in the next 10 minutes spelled the end for Peru before they had a chance to get back into the match. Romulo Jose Pacheco da Silva added another goal at the 26-minute mark and Dodo made it 4-0 just minutes later.

Brazil play Panama in their final group match, but are already assured of making it into the semifinals and will win their group with a draw or win in their final match.

Panama drew 0-0 with Canada to put a decent grip on second place in Group A, but they'll need a result vs. Brazil or a loss or draw from Canada against Peru to ensure they make it into the semifinals.

Both of the final Group A matches take place on July 20.
