Changes afoot for Fleetwood

Graham Alexander has hinted he could make changes when Fleetwood host Morecambe in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Captain Mark Roberts, an unused substitute in the weekend's 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient, may make his first appearance of the season having recovered from a knock.

The likes of defender Liam Hogan and striker Stephen Dobbie could be promoted to the starting line-up, but it is probably too soon for midfield pair Keith Southern (hernia) and Jeff Hughes (broken leg).

Conor McLaughlin is due to meet up with the Northern Ireland squad this week while Jamille Matt (leg) is out for the season.

Skipper Mark Hughes will be suspended as Morecambe bid to get back to winning ways at Highbury.

The midfielder was dismissed for an apparent head-butt in the 2-1 loss to Tranmere on Saturday - which was the first time the Shrimps had dropped points in League Two this season - and now begins a three-game suspension.

Defenders Andy Parrish (ankle) and Ryan Edwards (fractured fingers) are edging closer to returns and may feature.

However, Laurence Wilson (knee) is out for two months so loanee Joe Widdowson may continue at full-back after making his debut over the weekend.
