Jose Mourinho: I'm a fan backing Inter Milan and Luciano Spalletti

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said he is a fan who hopes "everything goes well" for Serie A leaders Inter Milan and coach Luciano Spalletti.

Mourinho led Inter to a Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League treble in 2010, but the club have not won a trophy since the 2011 Coppa Italia.

Spalletti has been compared to Mourinho because of his style and charisma, but the United boss told Sky Sport Italia: "Luciano's got his story, I've got mine.

"I'm obviously happy but Luciano has his own identity, his own story and way of working. I'm just an Inter fan who, from a distance, hopes that everything goes well for them."

Earlier, Spalletti wrote on Instagram that he felt people were waiting for undefeated Inter and him to fail.

"I see a lot of people unhappy that our first defeat of the season has yet to come, as if they feel it is a curse which needs to be broken to turn our beautiful swan back into an ugly duckling," he said.

"They should know that, for now, our fairytale is a different one; one where it is those seeking to jinx us who turn pacifist."

Prior to Inter's goalless draw with Juventus on Friday night, a guest on Juve's in-house TV channel said he wanted to see Inter "in the sewers where they belong."

A Spalletti comment accompanying his Instagram post after the match said: "Well done lads, great game and ... the sewers are empty again this week!"

Inter remain a point clear of Napoli and two ahead of Juventus at the top of Serie A and host Udinese on Saturday.
