Roma sporting director Monchi has said the club have identified their next coach amid reports that Sassuolo's Eusebio Di Francesco will take over from Luciano Spalletti.
The departure of Spalletti was confirmed on Tuesday, with Di Francesco expected to be installed by the weekend.
The 47-year-old, a former Roma midfielder, has been seen by fans near the club's Trigoria headquarters and reports suggest only a delay over the €3 million release clause in his contract is preventing his appointment from being made official.
Monchi did not mention any names, but in an interview with Roma TV he said: "We're still working on it, but most of the work has been done.
"The priority was obviously to try to get Luciano to stay, but we've also been working parallel to that to find another option in case he left.
"We already know who we want to lead our project from next season and we are working on getting him.
"He's a coach with clear ideas, dedicated to work; a coach who knows how to be at one with this club's philosophy and who can transmit the club's values, and is a winner.
"All I can tell the Roma fans is that they must have faith in the project which we are working on, and which will bring positive results."
Di Francesco played for Roma between 1997 and 2001, making more than 100 appearances, and his attacking brand of football as a coach has been widely acclaimed.
Roma and Sassuolo have enjoyed a productive relationship in the past, with young players from Roma's academy often taking their first steps in Serie A on loan at Sassuolo.
