Juventus' Pavel Nedved rejected Inter Milan move under Jose Mourinho

Pavel Nedved says he turned down Jose Mourinho's attempts to sign him for Inter Milan in 2009, although he says he has no regrets, even in hindsight, about missing out on winning the Champions League as a result.

The Juventus director ended his playing career with the Bianconeri and the rivalry between the two clubs was the only reason why he could not even entertain the idea of joining the Nerazzurri.

Juve had been struggling since returning to Serie A, finishing seventh in the standings and missing out on European football, but even the lure of Champions League football could not turn Nedved's head.

"I had never been able to win the Champions League so I was attracted by the possibility of playing in it and winning it, but I could never have been compatible with a move to Inter," he told idnes.cz. "I would have gone to play for Mourinho in any other part of the world, but not at Inter.

"It's no problem [that Inter won the Champions League that season], it was bound to happen -- Mourinho wanted it so much. Mou knew that I was keen on the Champions League, but I could never have joined Inter."

Nedved took another swipe at Inter for the way in which they accepted the 2006 Serie A title after it was taken off Juventus for their role in the Calciopoli scandal that year.

"They say that it is a title made of paper, but I wouldn't know if I could appreciate one like that because I've never won such a title," Nedved added.
