Udinese fined €3,000 for time-wasting ballboys in victory vs. Empoli

Udinese have been hit with a €3,000 fine after their ballboys "deliberately" wasted time in their 2-0 win over Empoli last weekend.

The punishment figures in the Lega Serie A's weekly list of disciplinary decisions from the previous round of matches.

According to the report, the ballboys at the Stadio Friuli should have been controlled better by their club instead of just being allowed to continually delay the restart of play in the second half.

Felipe gave the hosts the lead in the third minute but it was not until the fourth minute of stoppage time that a second from Stipe Perica put the result beyond doubt.

"Udinese have been fined for not intervening during the second half when their ballboys were systematically and deliberately delaying the restart of play," read the Lega Serie A's disciplinary statement.

The win was Udinese's first of the season after they had been beaten 4-0 on the opening day by Roma.
